Foundation Scholarships

Muenzer, Norman Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a second or third year student enrolled full time in the Department of Accounting and Finance at UW-Eau Claire. Recipient needs to demonstrate financial need by verifying that he/she is financing a substantial portion of his/her college education without financial assistance from parents. The financial qualifications of the recipient must be confirmed by the Financial Aid Office. There is no academic requirement for this scholarship.

Applications become available the week before spring break and are due the week after spring break.

The Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

Before the end of spring semester.

The Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarship Committee will notify the recipient in writing and will submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.

Janet Tolander established this scholarship to honor Mr. Norman Muenzer. Janet graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1989 with an Accounting degree. Janet paid her own way through college and after her sophomore year, determined that even with her full time job, she wasn’t going to have enough money to continue pursuing her degree. Norman Muenzer, the father of an acquaintance, gave Janet a no-strings attached financial gift that allowed her to remain enrolled and graduate. Janet was deeply moved by Norman’s kind gesture and this scholarship honors his generosity by helping someone else the way she was helped. Janet’s hope is that the scholarship recipient will consider “paying it forward” some day by supporting this scholarship for another student. A thank you letter should be written to Janet Tolander and forwarded to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214.
