Applicant must be a sophomore, junior, or senior student with a major in Communication and an Organizational Communication emphasis. Applicant must have financial need and a minimum resident and major GPA of 3.0. Applicant must have made a serious application to the UW-Eau Claire Study Abroad program. Applicant must have earned at least 18 credits by the time of acceptance to study abroad for the summer, fall, winterim, or spring semester for the academic year following the spring semester the scholarship is awarded.

April 15. If April 15 falls on a weekend, the Application Deadline will be the first Monday proceeding the deadline date.

Mid-May

The Department of Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

The Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism will send notification to the recipient and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office. It is expected that the recipient of this award will attend the Department of Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.

Jill Muenich is a 1988 graduate of UW-Eau Claire who focused her studies in Organizational Communication. She has taken those resources into the work force with such companies as PepsiCo Foods, Verizon, MassMutual Financial, and Forward Community Investments where she is currently serving as Vice President – Marketing Services. A letter of gratitude addressed to Jill Muenich should be submitted directly to the Department of Communication and Journalism program assistant.
