ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
All applicants must have completed, or be scheduled to complete, a bachelor's degree or equivalent in communication disorders by August of the current year. Applicants must be applying for full standing in the graduate degree program in CSD at UW-Eau Claire concurrently with application for this scholarship. Students accepted with conditional status are not eligible for this scholarship. Only applicants who have a completed graduate school application on or before February 15 will be eligible for this scholarship award. This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding graduate student in communication sciences and disorders.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Only applicants who complete the scholarship application form and have at least two letters of recommendation for the scholarship submitted by February 15 will be eligible for the award. Application/nomination forms are available in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Awarding of the scholarship will be determined based upon a combination of past accomplishments and strong undergraduate academic records. A committee of past CSD master's degree graduates from UW-Eau Claire will independently rank applications for this scholarship. In the event of a tie, committee members will be asked to rank the tied applications. The Scholarship Committee will submit its rankings to the Chair of the Department of CSD.
SELECTION DEADLINE: Mid-March
NOTIFICATION:
The award winner will be notified in writing when admission letters are sent to the students who are accepted for the graduate degree program. The award will be offered to the highest-ranked applicant who accepts admission.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This scholarship was established in memory of Nancy McKinley, who was a 1974 graduate of UW-Eau Claire. She was founding owner of Thinking Publications, one of the largest publishing houses in the country specializing in books and materials for speech-language pathologists and other related professionals. She received the UW-Eau Claire President’s Award in 2001 as well as numerous state and national awards. Recipient should write a letter of thanks to Stacy Williams, President of SpeechPathology.com with a copy to Linda Schreiber.
