Johnson, Thomas and Barbara Accounting


AMOUNT: One award at $1,000.
AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Recipient must be a full-time UW-Eau Claire accounting major who has completed an internship with WIPFLI or who has been selected for an internship with WIPFLI, at least junior status, with financial need who has completed ACCT 301, been admitted to the College of Business and has a GPA of 3.0 or above. Recipient must have demonstrated significant participation in University, College, department, or community organizations. Must have potential for leadership as displayed by activities in college and have the ability and desire to enter the public accounting profession. If there are no qualified applicants who have completed or will be completing an internship with WIPFLI, any outstanding accounting major from Wisconsin who fulfills the other requirements may be considered for this award.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Contact the Department of Accounting and Finance for application information.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications become available the week before spring break and are due the week after spring break.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Before the end of spring semester.
NOTIFICATION:
The Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarship Committee will notify the recipient in writing and will submit a “Scholarship Award Form to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This scholarship was established in 2009 by Thomas and Barbara Johnson, from Menomonie. Tom, a 1975 UW-Eau Claire accounting graduate, is the managing partner for WIPFLI’s accounting office in Menomonie. Barb, a 1974 education major and community volunteer, is a native of Eau Claire. They met while students at Eau Claire. Thank you notes addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson may be sent to their attention in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, S-214.
