AMOUNT: One new award at $5000. Two renewals at $5000 each. All awards total $15000.AVAILABLE: Two renewals and one new scholarship are available.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The donors desire to help incoming freshmen with great potential to be successful students, leaders and successful in their careers after graduation. The recipients must have significant financial need. The donors’ preference is to help students from urban areas but they also would consider recipients from economically challenged rural areas in Wisconsin. The primary consideration are students with a combination of great potential and great financial need who also have extraordinary circumstances in their lives that make paying for college education very challenging. The recipients may continue to receive this scholarship for a total of four years as long as they continue to make satisfactory academic progress. Candidates must have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT) AND rank in the top 25% of their graduating class (or GPA of 3.5) to be eligible.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: To be considered for Incoming Freshman Student Admissions Scholarships, just submit the application for admission. There is no separate application to apply, though demonstration of financial need is required for certain merit-based scholarships. Your application for admission will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible. If you have questions, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Admissions Office will coordinate the selection process, which is highly competitive. The process is based off of the student’s admissions profile including: transcripts, academic history, list of involvements and essays. These are among the criteria that will be reviewed for scholarship purposes.SELECTION DEADLINE: Screening of candidates will begin in December for some early awards and continue through the spring or until awards are accepted.NOTIFICATION: Scholarship award notices will be sent to scholarship recipients by the beginning of April of student’s senior year. If scholarships are declined, they will be re- awarded to alternates through the summer months. The renewal will be confirmed by the Financial Aid Office and is automatic for up to three years if the recipient meets the qualifications noted above.SPECIAL NOTES: The scholarship was established by Tim and Melissa Hoeppner. Tim, a 1982 UW-Eau Claire graduate, and Melissa both appreciate the importance of a college degree. They also have benefitted first hand from scholarships that helped them obtain their educational goals. They want to make a difference for the students who will receive their scholarships. They also are taking advantage of the generous corporate match from Tim’s employer to significantly fund this scholarship. Thank you notes should be addressed to Tim and Melissa Hoeppner and sent in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, S-214. |
