Hagen, Genevieve International Study Abroad


AMOUNT: $500
AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
This scholarship shall be awarded annually to an outstanding UW-Eau Claire student planning to participate in the University’s International Study Abroad program. Preference will be given to juniors or seniors majoring in foreign languages who are planning to study in a Scandinavian country or Germany. If there are no junior or senior foreign language majors who qualify, any junior or senior, regardless of major, planning to study in a Scandinavian country or German shall be considered. Preference would be for the recipient to be a Wisconsin high school graduate and/or resident.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Secure an application from the Center for International Education in Schofield Hall.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
October 15 for spring if no award was made for the fall; March 15 for summer/fall/academic year.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection shall be conducted by a committee composed of staff from the Center for International Education and faculty involved in international activities on campus.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
November 15 for spring; April 15 for summer/fall/academic year.
NOTIFICATION:
Notification will be sent by CIE to the recipient by letter. The CIE Director will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This scholarship was established by the Hagen children in memory of their mother, Genevieve, who taught Norwegian at UW-Eau Claire in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. A thank you note should be written to Mr. Richard Hagen, in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214.
