AMOUNT: $300 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: All Political Science majors are eligible for this award. To be considered, students must present a paper they have written at the annual student conference of the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. The paper emphasis shall be on critical analysis of current issues in world politics with a particular concern for controversies that related to peace and conflict studies.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Students must have their paper proposals accepted for presentation at the annual student conference of the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. Student must submit their acceptance notice along with a copy of their paper to the Leonard Gambrell World Politics Award Committee by the application deadline.APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 10 of each academic yearSELECTION PROCEDURE: The department shall appoint a Leonard Gambrell World Politics Award Committee of faculty to solicit, evaluate, and make the award decision.SELECTION DEADLINE: The Leonard Gambrell World Politics Award Committee shall make their awards decision by March 31 of each academic year.NOTIFICATION: The Political Science Department Chair will send a completed “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. The Chair shall also notify the donor of the name(s) of the recipient(s) and a copy of the winning paper(s).SPECIAL NOTES: Leonard Gambrell was a professor of Political Science at UW-Eau Claire from 1966-2002. In 2002, he received the UW Regents Teaching Award for the entire UW system. The recognition carried with it a cash award, which he used to establish this fund. Dr. Gambrell was honored by both students and faculty for the rigor and passion he brought to teaching. One of his former students said he was one of the most dedicated individuals to the profession of teaching and field of political sciences. He continued to inspire his former students long after they graduated. The recipient is encouraged to send a thank-you note to Dr. Leonard Gambrell in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214. |
