Foundation Scholarships

Eau Claire Student Nurses Association

Two scholarships will be awarded annually. The first scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding student admitted to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire with demonstrated financial need and who shows promise in the nursing profession. The second scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding student admitted to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire who will be participating in an international study abroad experience the year he/she receives the scholarship. The recipient must have demonstrated financial need and show promise in the nursing profession. If there are not qualified applicants who are planning a study abroad experience, the second scholarship shall be awarded according to the criteria for the first scholarship. Recipients of both scholarships must be active members of the Eau Claire Student Nurses Association and must demonstrate active involvement in community service.

Application Forms: Students who are admitted to the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire will receive an email in late February/early March when the scholarship application is ready and available. The email will include the path to the online application forms. PART ONE is filled online and submitted electronically. PART TWO (the essay and activities form) is filled out online and printed off, signed and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant Office, Nursing 103, by the deadline. Only one essay can be submitted. The essay must address the eligibility criteria for each of the scholarships that they wish to apply for. Financial Need: For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need.

The Nursing Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and makes recommendations to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The recommendations are shared with the executive board of the Eau Claire Student Nurses Association. They will also ensure the awards do not duplicate other nursing scholarship awards and coordinate communication with the financial aid office and recipients.

The Dean’s Office shall notify the recipient and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.

The annual income of this fund is intended to be used for scholarships. However, if there is an initiative or special project in the UW-Eau Claire nursing program that is seeking private support that the members of the Eau Claire Student Nurses Association feel is a worthy project, the annual income of the fund may be designated to support that special project or initiative. For this to happen, the membership of the ECSNA must approve the project and specific budget commitment by a majority vote. No more than three years of annual income may be committed at a time for such a project. After that, the annual income must be used for scholarships as originally intended. Recipient should write a letter of thanks and deliver to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office S-214.
