AMOUNT: One award at $500AVAILABLE: AvailableELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The William and Laural Combs Scholarship shall be awarded annually to an outstanding junior or senior psychology major with financial need and a strong academic record (3.0 GPA or higher). Consideration shall be given to recipients who show great promise in the field of psychology, who are active in the psychology program at UW-Eau Claire and who have demonstrated financial need.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applications should submit the one-page application, available in the Psychology Office, HHH 277; a copy of their most current UW-Eau Claire degree audit, and a two- page essay which addresses the following points: 1) extracurricular activities on campus or in the community; 2) previous awards, recognitions, scholarships; 3) percentage of college expenses the applicant personally provides; 4) funding sources for the applicant’s education; and 5) how the William and Laurel Combs Psychology Scholarship will aid the applicant’s education.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Second Friday in April.SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Department of Psychology awards committee shall determine the deadlines and specific application procedures.SELECTION DEADLINE: The recipient shall be named in May of each year, and the scholarship will be applied toward tuition the following academic year.NOTIFICATION: The recipient will be notified via letter from the Scholarship Committee Chair prior to the Psychology Awards Reception that they’ve been selected to receive the award. The recipient is expected to attend the Psychology Awards Reception, which is typically held the Friday night before spring Commence. The Chair will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office so the award can be paid the following academic year.SPECIAL NOTES: The recipient should send a letter of appreciation to William and Laural Combs in care of the Foundation Office, Schofield 214. |
