Blum, Jim and Patty Volunteer Service

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Applicant must be a declared undergraduate major in Health Care Administration and have sophomore, junior and senior status with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Priority will be given to students who have demonstrated a great passion for volunteering with the elderly in nursing homes, senior centers, or community centers. Students may receive this scholarship only once. While financial need and academic success should be considered, the scholarship should NOT be awarded necessarily to the top student academically or the one with the greatest financial need. Rather, the donor is more interested in helping students who are working hard in their studies and who show a genuine interest in and passion for volunteer service with the elderly in preparation for their careers in Health Care Administration.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Applicants must provide an essay on the student’s reason for applying for the award, goals, and special contributions that the student has made in Health Care Administration and activities in the major. Essay must also address demonstrated volunteer service as outlined in the criteria.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Due in March. Please check the Health Care Administration scholarship application.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
A selection committee will review applications and select the recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Prior to the CHAASE banquet.
NOTIFICATION:
Notification will be made by the selection committee by letter or email. The selection committee will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. The recipient’s name will be posted on the departmental bulletin board and included in the department newsletter.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Jim Blum is a 1980 UW-Eau Claire graduate who majored in Health Care Administration. Jim benefitted from the outstanding education he received and the opportunities afforded to him after graduation. He established this scholarship in recognition of the importance of volunteer service in preparation for a career as a Health Care Administrator. Recipient should write a letter of thanks to Jim and Patty Blum and deliver it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office S-214.
