NARRATIVE IMAGNTN
Literary classics from the ancient Mediterranean world
have profoundly influenced Western thought, literature,
and culture. This course is a comparative study of
classic texts originating from the myths, legends, and
folklore of early Mediterranean cultures. Standard texts
are works by Homer, Sophocles, Euripides, Aristophanes,
Virgil, and Ovid. Also included are stories and poems
from the Hebrew Tanakh.

HIST IN FICTION
This course aims to challenge conventional distinctions
between fiction and history through study of stories,
novels, drama, essays, films, and theoretical writings
that muddle the distinctions for us. Evaluation will be

GLOBL HEALTH ISSU
This course surveys contemporary global health issues and
provides a more in-depth analysis of selected infectious
disease, nutrition and maternal/child health issues from
a global perspective. National and international global
health policies including the UN Millennium Development
Goals will be discussed and analyzed. Social disparities
that affect health will be examined along with working
models of approaches to favorably alter them.
