November 2nd & 3rd, 2007 : The "WI -TECNE" Workshop held at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The goal of this Workshop was to " Equip the WI-TECNE scholars with knowledge and skills to effectively utilize manikin-based simulation as a teaching strategy for preparing technology-competent nurses." Members of the planning team for this conference were Deb Jansen, Cathy Berry, Gail Hanson Brenner, Nita Johnson & Gunnar Larson. Activities included informational sessions, tours of facilities here at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and at CVTC, first hand interactions with Sim Man and a social dinner at Davies Center


Dec 12, 2006 : Eau Claire Student Nurses Association students present check for $15,000 to the University. The money will be used to create two annual $600.00 scholarships, one of which will fund a "Study Abroad" experience. The check is being matched by a donation from the Casper Foundation of Chippewa Falls. December 2006:Grad student and "nurse/artist" Cindy Chapek of Cadott, Wisconsin presents Dean Elaine Wendt with her oil painting depicting the pain of Fibromyalgia. The artwork was done as a class project in FMHN 722 and will be displayed in the nursing building.
Sophomore nursing students in Jayne Bielecki's FMHN 260 class offer "Free Hugs" to UWEC students and faculty on an early December chilly day.
