NSLS Executive Board Meeting

Called to order at 7:01 p.m. on February 28, 2012 in HHH 204 by Katie Nelson

Membership Outreach

Coordinators are meeting after this meeting to decide what to have committee members do.
  • Use committee to send out survey
  • Have them be interactive welcome everyone
  • Try to incorporate everyone
  • Put committee members in charge of ice breakers at general meetings

Public Relations

The committee members are getting better and are helping put up posters.
  • Bathroom stalls in Davies are good for getting the word out about events
  • Davies would do free printing for us
    • Great for larger events such as book drive
    • Community and campus wide
  • Many people are signing up for broadcasts
    • 110 signed up
    • 88 showed up
      • May need a larger room or to use two rooms next to each other
Admissions Office is trying to put together videos and brochures of student life and organizations.
  • Great way to promote organization
  • Slide shows give example of activities and opportunities at UWEC

SNT

SNTs are going well, but an executive board member is needed for tomorrow's 6 p.m. SNT in HHH 108 and 178

Social Events

Few people are showing up to social events. Only Daniel and a few others showed up to ice skating.

Committee met yesterday and discussed General Meeting

What are you going to do when you get to the school? You can't have a single speaker come every time. It needs to be fun and creative to keep students. Many students have extracurricular activities after school.

January 31, 2012 NSLS Minutes
HHH 204 Meeting called to order at 7:00pm

T-Shirt fundraising ideas? Email Katie. We are looking to have them ready to sell to members at the end of February.

Current account balance: $1404.95

Point System is in effect this semester (exact points and goals will be made throughout the semester since it is a new system).

Book drive boxes are in, so we just need to make signs and hang them up; ends at the end of the semester. Community service is still exploring other ideas such as Ice Age Trail clean up, campus kitchen (Tues. evening or Wed. morning), community table. Exact times and dates will be emailed out and updated to the calendar.

Burrachos is Thursday Feb. 9, 5-9pm. Need 50 people.

SNT slots are almost filled to the max. We will need exec board members to help out with the first SNT’s so general members know what to do.

Social at Katie’s house during Exec board meeting on Feb. 13. And an ice skating social at Hobbs arena. Time and price yet to be determined.

General meeting speaker slots still needed to be filled. Any ideas? Our first speaker is Robyn, our advisor.

Orientation games include: rock-paper-scissors and oreo game. We need to go to businesses and get free coupons.

High School Leadership day is coming along. We still need exec board members to help out! It is required. So please sign up for a job. We will be talking about the actual date and other information at the next general meeting.
