RELEASED: Sept. 22, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — Two University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students who are members of the university's Circle K Club have been selected to receive $500 scholarships from the Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire.

Scholarship recipients are Matthew Bowe, Bloomer, a junior majoring in mathematics and physics (education); and Brittany Lucht, Antigo, a senior majoring in kinesiology with a minor in Spanish for health professions.

Circle K, sponsored by Kiwanis International, is a community service and leadership organization made up of 12,600 college and university students in 17 nations. The UW-Eau Claire chapter, chartered in 1978, is one of the largest clubs within Circle K International and has received awards and recognition at regional and international levels. Members have logged more than 3,000 hours of volunteer community service this past academic year in and around the Eau Claire area.

The Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire, a service organization made up of local community leaders, offers $2,000 in scholarships each year to local members of Circle K and Key Club (the organization for high school students). Proceeds from the annual Kiwanis Paul Bunyan Flapjack Feed in Eau Claire fund the scholarships.
