Writing Center opens in new McIntyre Library location

RELEASED: Sept. 19, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Writing Center has moved to the new Collaborative Learning Center on the second floor of McIntyre Library in Room 2003A.

The center offers expanded services under its new name: Center for Writing Excellence. The new Center for Writing Excellence — funded through the Blugold Commitment — is dedicated to offering all students exceptional writing experiences throughout their education.

The center will assist students through informal workshops, one-on-one tutoring sessions and online tutorials with writing in any discipline and at any stage in the writing process. Daytime hours are dedicated to writing center activities. All academic department tutoring services are invited to use the space on a first-come, first-served basis during the evening hours.

Academic departments are asked to update websites to reflect the center's new title and location, as well as to update links to "Center for Writing Excellence."

Students may visit the Center for Writing Excellence to check on tutor availability, make appointments for one or multiple sessions or sign up for sustained sessions. Because sessions fill quickly, appointments should be made as early as possible at the start of the semester.

The Center for Writing Excellence main center hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Fridays. Satellite centers are located across campus.

For more information, visit the Center for Writing Excellence website at or call 715-836-2644.
