Chicago art trip set for Oct. 13-16

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's department of art & design invites the community to join its annual fall art trip to Chicago. This year's cultural adventure to the Windy City will leave Eau Claire Oct. 13 and return Oct. 16.

An informational meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 in Room 101 of UW-Eau Claire's Haas Fine Arts Center.

Notable attractions in Chicago this fall include the following:

  • "Eila-Liisa Ahtila: The House" and "Bertrand Goldberg: Architecture of Invention" at the Art Institute of Chicago;
  • "Pandora's Box: Joseph Cornell Unlocks the MCA Collection" and "Motor Cocktail: Sound and Movement in Art of the 1960's" at the Museum of Contemporary Art; and
  • "Vision and Communism" at the Smart Museum of Art.

Participants also are encouraged to explore Chicago's great food, music and theater. Visit www.chicagoreader.com for advance information on restaurants and shows.

Art trip tickets are $220 per person for four-person rooms and include three nights at the Howard Johnson Inn on LaSalle Street, chartered bus transportation to and from Chicago and a three-day rail/bus pass. Tickets will be available starting Sept. 20 at the University Service Center. The trip is open to all students, faculty, staff and the public.
