EAU CLAIRE — The University Symphony Orchestra will present its fall concert at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Nobuyoshi Yasuda, associate professor of music, will present Richard Wagner's "Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"and Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43.

The concert will continue with Tchaikovsky's "Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra," Op. 33, featuring Dr. Tulio Rondón on cello.

Rondón was born in Venezuela and obtained his bachelor's degree at the Simón Bolivar Conservatory, where at the age of 17 he was appointed cello teacher. As one of the founding members of the Aragua Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela, Rondón was a principal cellist for six years. He has taught and worked in schools, colleges and conservatories around the world, and has performed in chamber music concerts in North and South America and throughout Europe.

The ensemble presents an on-campus concert each semester, performs annually in a tour of high schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota, accompanies a fully staged opera or musical play each year and is a featured ensemble at UW-Eau Claire's nationally-acclaimed Viennese Ball each spring.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $6 for the public; $4 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID. The concert will have reserved seating.
