Forensics team places high in Iowa events

RELEASED: Oct. 26, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire forensics team competed in the Mid-American Forensics League Tournament No. 3 at the University of Northern Iowa Oct. 22 and in MAFL No. 4 at Wartburg College Oct. 23. The team placed third in team sweepstakes Oct. 22 and second Oct. 23.

Individual results for Oct. 22 are as follows:

Senior James Kust, Eau Claire, took second in impromptu speaking. Kust also placed third in extemporaneous speaking, which qualified him for the American Forensic Association tournament. Kust placed fourth in informative speaking, which qualified him for the National Forensic Association tournament.

Sophomore Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, took second in dramatic interpretation.

Senior Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., placed first in poetry interpretation and second in program oral interpretation, which qualified her for the American Forensic Association tournament in each event.

Junior Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., placed fourth in program oral interpretation.

Individual results for Oct. 23 are as follows:

Albers placed fourth in prose interpretation.

McKeown placed first in program oral interpretation. She also placed third in dramatic interpretation, which qualified her for the National Forensic Association tournament.

Junior Jessica Krentz, Weston, placed first in informative speaking and fourth in persuasion speaking, which qualified her for the National Forensic Association tournament in each event.

Montgomery took second in dramatic interpretation. He also took second in poetry interpretation, which qualified him for the National Forensic Association tournament.

Kust placed fifth in persuasion speaking, which qualified him for the National Forensic Association tournament.

Freshman Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn., placed third in prose interpretation, which qualified him for the National Forensic Association tournament.
