Faculty and guest artist recital set for Oct. 30

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a faculty and guest artist recital featuring the Chiaroscuro Trio at 2 p.m. Oct. 30 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The trio consists of contralto Dr. Elizabeth Pétillot, violist Dr. Aurélien Pétillot and pianist Dr. Yuko Kato.

Dr. Elizabeth Pétillot

Elizabeth Pétillot is a lecturer of voice at UW-Eau Claire. Her versatile repertoire includes opera, oratorio, chamber music and recitals. She recently performed as the alto soloist in Handel's "Messiah" with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and as Mamma Lucia in "Cavalleria Rusticana" with the Winter Opera in St. Louis, Mo. She has upcoming recitals in France and Spain.

Aurélien Pétillot
Dr. Aurélien Pétillot

Aurélien Pétillot has performed as a guest artist and soloist in Europe and North America, and has toured with The Young Eight, the only professional string octet in America. He is the founder and artistic director of Viola By Choice, a nonprofit chamber ensemble dedicated to promoting the originality, versatility and importance of the viola and its repertoire.

Yuko Kato
Dr. Yuko Kato

Currently serving as assistant professor of piano at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Kato has performed as a soloist and collaborative musician across the United States and internationally. She most recently performed in Canada and Austria, and has previously been invited to perform and study in England and Canada. The New York Concert Review has described her playing as, "powerful and the technical skill impressive."
