EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host a guest artist recital featuring pianist Dr. Matthew McCright at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

McCright will open the concert as a soloist. For the final piece, McCright will perform with UW-Eau Claire's New Music Ensemble. The New Music Ensemble is a group of ad hoc players, sometimes students, sometimes faculty, and often a combination of the two. The group focuses on art music written by living composers and composers from the past 50-100 years.

McCright, currently a lecturer in piano at Carleton College in Minnesota, has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and the South Pacific as both a soloist and chamber musician. His repertoire consists of both traditional pieces and a broad assortment of contemporary works.

McCright has participated in numerous music festivals, such as Bang on a Can at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Printing House Festival of New Music in Dublin, Late Music Festival in the U.K. and the Spark Festival of Electronic Music.

The guest artist recital is free and open to the public. For more information about UW-Eau Claire music events, visit the calendar online.
