EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 10th annual Tidy up the Town event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 22 at various locations in the Eau Claire area.
Throughout the day, students, faculty and staff will assist elderly and physically challenged homeowners. Students will rake leaves and perform other fall cleanup duties for local senior citizens.
Most of the students will volunteer through a campus organization or group, but individuals also are welcome to participate in the community project.
Campus organizations and groups that will have members helping with the event include Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, Sharon Westphal's psychology class, Putnam Hall Association, Student Accounting Society and Pre-Physical/Occupational Therapy Club.
Tidy Up the Town is sponsored by the AmeriCorps Eclipse program. Papa John's Pizza on Clairemont Avenue will provide pizza at discounted rates to the volunteers.
