Students invited to enter UW-Eau Claire Idea Challenge

RELEASED: Oct. 18, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs from all academic majors are invited to enter their new ideas for a product, concept or service into the UW-Eau Claire Idea Challenge.

A training session for the competition, hosted by UW-Eau Claire's Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization and Students in Free Enterprise, will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 19 in Room 310 of Schneider Hall. Raymond Hughes, director of the Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program and a lecturer in the UW-Eau Claire College of Business, will lead the training session.

The training session is an optional event to help students prepare to submit their original ideas for a product, concept or service to the Idea Challenge competition. Entries for the contest should be submitted by Oct. 30.

Prizes for the top three winners are $2,500, $1,250 and $750, respectively, to be applied toward the development of their ideas.

The event is co-sponsored by the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corp.

Students are encouraged to attend the training session Oct. 19 if they have any questions. The contest entry form can be found online. For more information, contact Megan Hetrick at hetricme@uwec.edu.
