EAU CLAIRE — Career Services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host "Explore Your Possibilities," a three-day event Oct. 18-20 that will feature job field information sessions as well as resume and networking tips.

A UW-Eau Claire alumnus will deliver the keynote address and lead multiple breakout discussions during the event.

Mike Treske, a 1979 communication graduate who now serves as John Hancock Financials' head of annuity distribution and president of John Hancock Wood Logan, will be the keynote speaker. His address, "If I Knew Then What I Know Now: Building a Successful Career," will begin at noon Oct. 20 in Davies Theatre.

During his keynote address Treske will share what he has learned during his 30-year career about crafting a successful career. He will talk about the do's and don'ts he discovered along the way.

During his professional career Treske has worked with many prestigious corporations including Kimberly Clark, Sony Corp., Fidelity Investments and Evergreen Mutual Funds. During his time as president of distribution at Evergreen Mutual Funds, the company's assets grew from $13 billion to $84 billion.

Treske will lead two breakout sessions after his keynote presentation.

"UW-Eau Claire Springboard: Using Your Liberal Arts Skills" will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Potawatomi Room of Davies Center. During this session Treske will help students define their own excellence by helping them identify how they can gain the most from their time and experiences at UW-Eau Claire.

The second breakout session, "You're Surrounded: How to Build Your Professional Network and Experiences," will begin at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Potawatomi Room of Davies Center. Treske will discuss the importance of building a network, as well as talk about important professional skills and professional experiences.

While a student at UW-Eau Claire, Treske was a resident assistant for three years and was active in intramurals, Omicron Delta Kappa and The Singing Statesmen. When he graduated magna cum laude, he was one of 12 members of his class to be named an Outstanding Senior.
