Campus Talks to feature 'Beyond Retention' discussion

Dr. Pegeen Reichert Powell

EAU CLAIRE — Dr. Pegeen Reichert Powell, associate professor of English at Columbia College in Chicago, will present a Campus Talk titled "Beyond Retention: The Challenge of Educating Students Who Drop Out" from 4-5:50 p.m. Oct. 6 in the second floor breezeway of the Old Library.

Powell recently completed a book-length study about student retention. Her study, titled "Retention and Writing Instruction: The Challenge of Educating Students Who Drop Out," is under review at Southern Illinois University Press.

The Campus Talk event is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire's Academic Affairs Professional Development Program, the College of Arts and Sciences, the department of English, the Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing, Undergraduate Studies, Academic Advising and the Center for Writing Excellence.

The event is free and open to the public.
