Symphonic Choir to perform concert Nov. 20

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Dr. Alan Rieck, associate professor of music, will present its fall concert at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The concert will begin with Francesco Durante's "Magnificat." Featured soloists will be soprano Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour, associate professor of music; tenor Dr. Mark Mowry, lecturer of music; baritone Kenneth Pereira; and contralto Dr. Elizabeth Pétillot, lecturer of voice.

The second half of the concert will feature John Rutter's "Gloria."

The concert also will feature student pianist Elliot Etzkorn, a junior from Savage, Minn.

The Symphonic Choir specializes in the study and performance of music composed for chorus and orchestra. The choir includes students from many academic disciplines within the university as well as singers from throughout the Chippewa Valley.

The Symphonic Choir presents two major concerts each year with the University Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets, available online and at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $6 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
