EAU CLAIRE — The Ministry/Common Ground, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student organization, will present "HAGAR International: Caring for Women and Children who have been Trafficked."
The presentation — free and open to students, staff, faculty and community members interested in human rights — will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Alumni Room of Davies Center.
Maria Van Hoorn of HAGAR will discuss the plight of women and children who have been trafficked, as well as HAGAR's work to help these women and children recover from the abuse. Those attending also will learn how they can assist in this recovery.
Van Hoorn said the organization serves individual women and children regardless of religion, political preference, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation, and does whatever it takes for as long as it takes to restore their lives.
HAGAR is an international Christian organization dedicated to the protection, recovery and community integration of survivors of human rights abuse; particularly human trafficking, gender-based violence and sexual exploitation.
