Brass Quintet to perform Nov. 15

Brass Quartet

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host a performance by the University of Illinois Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Illinois Brass Quintet was founded in 1955 by the late Haskell Sexton. The 2005-06 season marked the 50th anniversary of the group, which is the world's first faculty brass quintet. Current members of the quintet include Charles Daval and Ronald Romm on trumpet, Bernhard Scully on horn, Elliot Chasanov on trombone and Mark Moore on tuba.

The quintet has performed with a variety of major orchestras in the U.S. including the Boston Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony, Montreal Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony and St. Louis Symphony. As chamber musicians, the quintet also has performed at numerous festivals around the world.

The Illinois Brass Quintet has presented an invited concert and clinic at The Juilliard School as part of the American Brass Quintet Forum and has performed at Carnegie Hall with the UI Wind Symphony as featured soloists. Currently, the Illinois Brass Quintet is active in presenting recitals, clinics and master classes at secondary schools, colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

The Nov. 15 recital is free and open to the public.
