Forensics team continues success with high ranking in Illinois meet

RELEASED: Nov. 11, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team continued its success during a recent meet in Peoria, Ill.

UW-Eau Claire's team competed in the 64th annual L.E. Norton Memorial Tournament hosted earlier this month by Bradley University. The UW-Eau Claire team placed fifth in team sweepstakes.

Semifinalist results are as follows:

  • Kindra Kressin, Champion, Neb. — dramatic interpretation.

  • James Kust, Eau Claire — extemporaneous speaking.

  • Patrick Martin, Burnsville, Minn. — impromptu speaking, rhetorical criticism.

  • Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn. — informative speaking.

  • Jarrel Montgomery, Madison — prose interpretation.

Finalist results are as follows:

  • Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn. — second place, forensics criticism; second place, poetry interpretation.

  • Jake Stendahl, Forest Lake, Minn. — fourth  place, novice poetry (qualified for National Forensic Association tournament).

  • James Kust, Eau Claire — fourth place, after-dinner speaking (qualified for NFA tournament).

  • Patrick Martin, Burnsville, Minn. — third place, extemporaneous speaking (qualified for American Forensics Association tournament); fourth place, informative speaking; fourth place, individual sweepstakes.

  • Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn. — third place, program oral interpretation (qualified for AFA tournament).
