RELEASED: Nov. 9, 2011

Hippie Child
The cover art for "Hippie Child," Dr. Jones' first solo CD, was designed by UW-Eau Claire 2009 art graduate Becky Thornton.

EAU CLAIRE — Dr. David Jones, a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faculty member, will celebrate the release of his first solo CD, "Hippie Child," from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 19.

Jones, an associate professor of English and women's studies at UW-Eau Claire and the faculty fellow for the University Honors Program, will have a release party at the Unitarian Congregation of Eau Claire building, 421 Farwell St. All are welcome to stop in for live musical performances, CD signings and socializing.

"Hippie Child" is a compilation of blues, urban folk, reggae, Delta blues, folk, adult contemporary and hip-hop music. While acoustic guitar is the foundation of the sound, Jones performs on piano, harmonica, electric bass and percussion as well. The CD includes 14 songs, 12 of which were written by Jones.

Jones is familiar to those in the Chippewa Valley music scene as the bandleader for Davey J and the Jones Tones. The group has performed in the area for more than a decade, including shows at the Blues on the Chippewa Festival in Durand, Tuesday Night Blues in Eau Claire, the James Sheeley House in Chippewa Falls and the Open Air Festival of the Arts in Eau Claire.
