UW-Eau Claire to present final facilities Campus Master Plan Nov. 14

RELEASED: Nov. 9, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire final facilities Campus Master Plan will be presented Nov. 14 in Davies Theatre of Davies Center on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students, and community members are invited to attend either of two informal open house sessions from 11 a.m.-noon and from 1-2 p.m. during which attendees can view the master plan and ask questions. A formal presentation of the plan will take place at noon.

The Campus Master Plan represents nearly two years of collaborative planning activity involving hundreds of faculty, staff, students, alumni, community partners and university neighbors, as well as UW System and state participants, said Mike Rindo, UW-Eau Claire assistant chancellor for facilities and chair of the university's Master-Planning Steering Committee.

The plan was developed by the Master-Planning Steering Committee in support of the university's strategic plan. It included a comprehensive analysis of existing buildings, academic space needs, residential housing and dining demand studies, as well as other projected facilities needs. The plan provides a framework for the physical development of UW-Eau Claire for the next 20 years.

The plan provides recommendations for new buildings and major renovations of existing buildings, land use, space use, access and circulation, transportation, parking, open space, athletics and recreation facilities, utilities, sustainability, image and identity, architectural and site development guidelines, potential land acquisition and possible partnerships with the greater Eau Claire community to develop shared arts and multipurpose event facilities.
