EAU CLAIRE — A discussion on participation in open source communities led by Dr. Matt Germonprez, associate professor of information systems at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will take place during the next session of "TED Tuesdays" at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in Room 100 of the university's Hibbard Humanities Hall.
"The Open Source Contributor" will be the theme of the session, which is open to the public and hosted by The Corps of Excellence, a UW-Eau Claire student organization, and the university's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Attendees will view TED talks featuring Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and legal expert Yochai Benkler, followed by a lecture and discussion led by Germonprez.

His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and accepted in MIS Quarterly, The Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Information & Organization, and The Communications of the Association for Information Systems. Most recently, he was awarded a $399,000 NSF grant for his research on how and why organizations participate in the Linux open source community.
"TED Tuesdays" are hosted weekly by The Corps of Excellence and include the viewing of intellectually stimulating TED Talks followed by a lecture and discussion with a UW-Eau Claire faculty member.
