Faculty and staff announce retirements

EAU CLAIRE — As of mid-May, 79 members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faculty and staff have notified the university of their plans to retire during the university's 2010-11 fiscal year. The number of retirees represents a 77 percent increase over the university's average number of retirees (44.6) in each of the previous 10 years.

The retirees have served a combined 1,822 years of service to the state of Wisconsin, or an average of 23 years each, said Donna Weber, UW-Eau Claire director of human resources. Weber noted that some retirees worked in other state positions before their employment at UW-Eau Claire.

Following are retirees who were honored for their years of service during a May 11 UW-Eau Claire recognition event. Participation in the event was optional, and not all retirees elected to be recognized. The names below are linked to retirees' professional Web pages when available:

  • Dr. Janice Berry, professor emerita of nursing, 15 years of service.

  • Marcia Bollinger, senior media specialist emerita, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, 23 years of service.

  • Timothy P. Candell, inventory control supervisor, Central Stores, 24 years of service.

  • Beth DeRosier, records/forms management specialist, McIntyre Library, 23 years of service.

  • Linda Duffy, clinical assistant professor emerita of nursing, 19 years of service.

  • Steven Erickson, custodian, Facilities Management, 26 years of service.

  • Betty Feia, university services program associate, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, 36 years of service.

  • Dr. Gloria Fennell, associate professor of social work, 13 years of service.

  • Dr. Richard Fletcher, professor emeritus of music, 29 years of service.

  • Dr. Kristine K. Fletcher, senior lecturer emerita of music, 29 years of service.

  • James Folstad, shipping and mailing associate, Mail Services, 23 years of service.

  • Andrea Gapko, director emerita of educational support services and Academic Skills Center, 37 years of service.

  • Dr. Robert Gough, professor emeritus of history, 30 years of service.

  • Arthur F. Gulig, senior instructional specialist emeritus, technical director of university theatre and sound designer in the department of music and theatre arts, 40 years of service.

  • Steve Hagen, custodian, Facilities Management, six years of service.

  • Carol J. Hanson, office assistant, Registration Services, 19 years of service.

  • Kevin Henderson, facilities maintenance specialist advanced, Facilities Management, 18 years of service.

  • Doug Hubbard, police detective, University Police, 14 years of service.

  • Dr. Michaelene Jansen, professor emerita of nursing, 30 years of service.

  • Julie A. Lee, financial specialist, Business Services, 32 years of service.

  • Debra Moen, university services program assistant, College of Education and Human Sciences, 26 years of service.

  • Kathleen Peterson, university services program associate, Career Services, 33 years of service.

  • Dr. Toni Poll-Sorensen, professor emerita of dance and interim chair for the department of music and theatre arts, 23 years of service.

  • Dr. Vicki Snider, professor emerita of special education, 26 years of service.

  • Paula Stuettgen, senior coordinator emerita of assessment and special projects, 34 years of service.

  • Dr. Paul Wagner, professor emeritus and chair of the computer science department, nine years of service.

  • Cynthia H. Welch, university services program associate, Services for Students with Disabilities/Project AIM, 21 years of service.
