Literary smArts contest winners to be honored May 12

RELEASED: May 5, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will recognize the winners of the Literary smArts Flash Fiction Contest at 3 p.m. May 12 in McIntyre Library.

The presentation and reading, which will take place on the library's second floor breezeway, is free and open to the public. The winner of the contest was Jonathan Helland, a UW-Eau Claire English graduate student from Burlington, Vt. Junior Matthew Nebel, an English major from Madison, and Michael R. Strom, a local engineer, earned honorable mention distinctions. An upcoming contest for fall semester, "Literary smArts: Poetic Place," also will be announced during the event.
