Supervisory management workshops to be offered

RELEASED: May 3, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Center for Business Solutions will present workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate Program in May and June. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. Programs will meet from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire and at Citizens State Bank in Hudson. The workshops are:

  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held May 5 and 6 at Citizens State Bank in Hudson. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management, delegating and developing your employees.

  • "Supervisory Management 3" will be held May 12 and 13 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire and June 9-10 at Citizens State Bank in Hudson. Topics include working toward more effective coaching, establishing job expectations and critical skills in the coaching process.

  • "Negotiation Skills" will be held June 2 and 3 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. Topics include negotiating project deadlines; work assignments; budget and human resource allocations; and strategies, skills and motivations for negotiating "win-win" outcomes. Participants will apply the concepts to everyday interactions and specialized contract or conflict situations.

The individual course fee is $450 per person and includes lunch, materials and instruction. A discount of $50 per seminar is allowed for three or more registrations. Registrations may be any combination of attendees or seminars from the entire Supervisory Management Certificate program and must be received at the same time.
The CBS provides access to recognized experts, high quality programs and valuable resources within the university, including:

  • Customized contract training for businesses or organizations.

  • Confidential, no-cost business counseling.

  • Seminars, workshops and certificate programs.

  • Additional resources and supports available through the Small Business Development Center and Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network regional office.
