RELEASED: March 30, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — Adjustments have been made to the start and stop times of a planned electrical power outage April 3 on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's lower campus.

McPhee Physical Education Center and the Olson Addition, both on upper campus, will not be affected by the outage as initially planned.

The start times will be staggered as follows:

  • 5 a.m. — Zorn Arena, Brewer Hall, Campus School, Kjer Theatre, Hibbard Humanities Hall, Davies Center and Schofield Hall
  • 6 a.m. — Nursing Building, Phillips Science Hall and Schneider Social Sciences Hall
  • 7 a.m. — McIntyre Library, Old Library, Putnam Hall and Thomas Hall

Power is expected to be restored at about 6 p.m.

The outage is needed so crews can perform electrical work on the university's new student center construction project. Primary campus power lines currently run under the site where the new building's foundation will be constructed and must be moved before installation of Geopiers to support the foundation can be completed.
