Teaching percussion to be focus of summer program for educators

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension is offering “Perfecting Percussion: Better Your Section and Yourself” June 20–23 at the UW-Eau Claire Haas Fine Arts Center. The course is designed for instrumental, vocal and general music teachers who work with percussion sections.

Dr. Jeffrey Crowell, UW-Eau Claire associate professor of music, will be the course instructor. Topics will include teaching techniques, current methods and good literature, and basic instrument maintenance and repair. Participants also will learn new repertoire and share techniques and methods with their peers.

There are three options for taking the course:

  • Two graduate credits:  8 a.m.–8 p.m. June 20–22.
  • Three graduate credits: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. June 20–23.
  • Workshop with no academic credit: Those choosing this option may attend through June 22 or 23.

June 10 is the registration deadline.
