EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites students, faculty, staff and community members to enter a fiction writing contest. "Literary smArts: Flash Fiction" embraces an open-ended theme of cultural diversity. Submissions will be accepted through April 1.
According to organizer Susan Santee-Buenger, a graduate assistant in the University Writing Center, flash fiction is often referred to as "sudden fiction" and is simply a "short" short story, and the event is a fun and relaxed way to promote creative writing and community involvement. Other sponsors of the contest are McIntyre Library/Collaborative Learning Center and the University Bookstore.
For more information and to submit work electronically, visit any of the following websites: University Writing Center, University Bookstore or McIntyre Library. Winners will be announced on the University Writing Center Facebook page and will also be invited to a presentation in April to read their stories aloud and receive prizes.
Questions may be directed to Susan Santee-Buenger at 715-836-2644 or santeesk@uwec.edu.
