Bridge Summit brings together campus, community to address alcohol issues

RELEASED: March 2, 2011

The Bridge logoEAU CLAIRE — The Bridge Campus-Community Coalition on Alcohol Issues will host the 2011 Bridge Summit from 3- 4:30 p.m. March 3 in Room 105 of the Haas Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The coalition is a partnership between UW-Eau Claire and the greater Eau Claire community. The partnership seeks to address and reduce underage and high-risk drinking behaviors and associated negative experiences through education, enforcement and environmental changes.

"I think we've done a good job of making progress, but it helps to check in on an annual basis," said Jennifer Lee, director of the Center for Alcohol Studies and Education.

The agenda includes countywide efforts and initiatives, campus initiatives, and incident and crime data, as well as an open forum for idea and information sharing.

Lee said the group also will discuss last April's bar walk and discuss a new initiative that would reach out to parents of incoming UW-Eau Claire students.

The meeting is open to the public. Parking is available without permit in the Haas Fine Arts lot. For more information, contact Jennifer Lee at 715-836-5110 or leejs@uwec.edu.
