'Playin' in the Park' opens July 6

Summer Events graphicEAU CLAIRE —The July 6 debut of the Playin' in the Park series will highlight an abbreviated week of Summer Events programming at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

A free evening of Summer Events Improv will begin at 7 p.m. in the Owen Park band shell. UW-Eau Claire students and alumni, and Chippewa Valley community members will take the stage with a mix of long- and short-form improvisation.

Pianist Dr. Namji Kim, UW-Eau Claire associate professor of music, and guest violinist Joseph Kneer will present a light classical concert at 2 p.m. July 10 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The Summer Sounds series is presented in cooperation with the music and theatre arts department.

Music on the Mall
will not be presented July 4 due to the Independence Day holiday, but the free outdoor concert series resumes July 11 with the high-energy Celtic band Green Tea.

The annual Summer Events series offers free entertainment to the Chippewa Valley community throughout the summer term. Funded by the students of UW-Eau Claire, the program is coordinated by the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office of the University Centers.
