UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education receives Otto Bremer Foundation grant

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension recently was awarded a grant in the amount of $12,900 from the Otto Bremer Foundation to provide nonprofit professionals, staff and volunteers with scholarships to attend UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education professional development programs in 2011 and 2012. Programs may include:

  • The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate series.Topics include fundamentals of nonprofit management, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, board development and marketing/communications. The program series will begin Oct. 25, 2011.
  • Board development workshops designed to increase the involvement in and strengthen the capacity of the boards of nonprofit organizations.
  • Volunteer management workshops that focus on engaging different generations of volunteers and incorporating practical tools to support and encourage high-impact involvement.
  • Nonprofit social media workshops that highlight how nonprofits can effectively and efficiently use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

"We are excited to be able to provide nonprofits in the Chippewa Valley with support to increase their skills in leading their organizations. As we continue to rely on nonprofits to fill gaps and increase community capacity, we also need to continue to allocate resources for their growth and development so they can continue to support our communities well into the future," said Nikki Andrews, outreach specialist in Continuing Education.
