EAU CLAIRE — A free outdoor concert by the Billy Krause Trio June 20 will highlight the second week of the Summer Events series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin of Davies Center). Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic, and enjoy free popcorn.

Singer-songwriter Billy Krause is a veteran performer who was influenced at an early age by such artists as Richie Havens, Dave Van Ronk, Danny O'Keefe and Gordon Lightfoot. His songs tell tales of broken hearts and newfound love, and sometimes bring the darker side of the human condition to light. Whether this trio is doing the gravel-in-the-can, the holler of the boogie-woogie or the soft croon of a ballad, their music makes the audience feel right at home.

Jazz at Noon concerts will take place every weekday in the East Blugold Room of Davies Center. UW-Eau Claire student and alumni musicians offer jazz standards and improvisation from noon-1 p.m.

Flutist Tim Lane and friends will present a light classical concert at 2 p.m. June 26 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The Summer Sounds series is presented in cooperation with the music and theatre arts department.

All events are free and open to the Chippewa Valley Community. A complete schedule is available online or at the Service Center, 715-836-3727. The Summer Events program is funded by the students of UW-Eau Claire and coordinated by the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office of the University Centers.
