Electric blues group Blue Max to perform July 25

EAU CLAIRE — A free outdoor show by the rocking electric blues group Blue Max July 25 will highlight the seventh week of the Summer Events series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin of Davies Center). Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic, and enjoy free popcorn.

Led by Howard "Guitar" Luedtke, one of the Midwest's best slide guitar players, Blue Max performs regularly at rock, blues and jazz festivals throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Since 1987, Luedtke with his wife and bassist, Deb Klossner, have shared stages with the best in the blues world, including Long John Baldrey, Sugar Blue, Lonnie Brooks, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, Debbie Davies, Tinsley Ellis, Jeff Healey, Jimmy Johnson, Kenny Neal, A.C. Reed, Eddie Shaw, James Solberg, Hubert Sumlin, Koko Taylor, George Thorogood, Joe Louis Walker and Johnny Winter.

The Playin' in the Park series concludes July 27 with a free evening of Summer Events Improv beginning at 7 p.m. in the Owen Park band shell. UW-Eau Claire students and alumni, and Chippewa Valley community members will take the stage with a mix of long- and short-form improvisation.

All events are free and open to the Chippewa Valley Community. A complete schedule is available online or at the Service Center, 715-836-INFO. The Summer Events program is funded by the students of UW-Eau Claire and coordinated by the Activities, Involvement and Leadership office of the University Centers.
