EAU CLAIRE — A digital art exhibition curated by Jian Luo, assistant professor of art & design at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will be featured Jan. 27-Feb.17 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The opening reception will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 27.

Examples of the digital art form, from digital painting and computer-based illustration to fractals and algorithmic imagery — where art meets mathematics with unusual and often striking results — will be on display. Artists scheduled to exhibit their work include Wei Chen of Sichuan Province, China; Morgan Yon of Montpellier, France; Drazenka Kimpel of Plantation, Fla.; Sanjay Chand of Studio City, Calif.; Ge Feng of England; and Lampo Leong of Columbia, Mo. Leong also will visit the gallery and present an artist lecture.

According to Tom Wagener, Foster Gallery director, the artworks will encourage viewers to develop an appreciation of digital art as a serious art form.

Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays, 6-8 p.m. Thursdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends. Entry to the gallery is free and open to the public.
