Continuing Education to offer GEMS youth programs

RELEASED: Jan. 18, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education announces the continuation of the Great Explorations in Math and Science program in spring 2011. GEMS workshops will be offered from 10 a.m.-noon the second Saturday of each month from February-May on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Dates and topics are as follows:

The GEMS program brings science and math to life for 4th-8th-grade students. Led by dynamic university faculty, each workshop explores a different area of scientific discovery through experiments, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Parents are welcome to stay and learn alongside their children at no additional cost. However, small children or older children who are not registered for the workshop will not be admitted.

The fee for each GEMS workshop is $15 per student. On-site registration will be available as space allows. Those interested may call the Continuing Education office before 5 p.m. the Friday before scheduled workshops to check on space availability.
