Tickets still available for Cabaret XXXIII, 'Broadcast'

RELEASED: Jan. 14, 2011

Cabaret PosterEAU CLAIRE — Tickets are limited but still available for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Cabaret XXXIII, "Broadcast." This year's musical revue showcases songs that define sections of a television news broadcast, including breaking news, politics, sports, weather and more.

Performances for the popular show are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20-22 and Jan. 27-29 in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. Matinees are scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 22 and Jan. 29.

The popular annual musical features performers from UW-Eau Claire's Concert Choir, The Singing Statesmen, University Symphony Orchestra, Women's Concert Chorale and jazz ensembles, as well as various small acts and solo performers. Cabaret has raised more than $250,000 to support ongoing scholarships for music students in the voice/choral and jazz areas since 1978.

"Cabaret Productions has evolved to a year round project," said Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, director. "In 2011, the cast of 125 students has been working very hard to bring 'Cabaret Broadcast' to the stage. As always in Cabaret, all music has been arranged by some 15 students for the annual variety show."

Before the Friday and Saturday evening shows, a dinner buffet and cash bar will be available in The Dulany of Davies Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner and show, which must be purchased in advance, are $34 for the general public and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff; or $26 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger and students with a university ID.

Show-only tickets are $20 for the general public and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff; or $12 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger and students with a university ID.

Patrons with show-only tickets may purchase a la carte deli and dessert items and beverages from a cash bar in the Council Fire Room one hour prior to each show.

For ticket information, contact the Service Center at 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, or visit the music and theatre arts department website to access an order form online. Forms may be mailed or dropped off at the Service Center.
