EAU CLAIRE — The complex details of health care reform will be presented in an easily digestible form during an upcoming luncheon hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association.
"The Economics of Health Care Reform" — a user-friendly summary of the legislation and how it may affect the economic health of consumers — is scheduled for noon-1 p.m. Jan. 26 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire as part of the Alumni Association's "Let's Do Lunch!" series. The event is open to the public and reservations are required.
Dr. Eric Jamelske, associate professor of economics at UW-Eau Claire, will put this complex information into perspective with an overview of U.S. health care spending, the effect on insurance and the uninsured, comparisons with other developed countries and a user-friendly synopsis of the recent health care reform legislation.
Jamelske teaches microeconomics, health economics and environmental economics. His current research crosses a wide spectrum, including fruit and vegetable intake among elementary school students; the UW-Eau Claire first-year experience program; health care; and global warming issues. He is a member of Energize Eau Claire County and Eau Claire County Healthy Communities.
The cost for "Let's Do Lunch!" is $10 per session, which includes the presentation, buffet, beverage, tax and tip. For more information or to reserve tickets, contact the Alumni Association at alumni@uwec.edu or 715-836-3266.
