'The Essentials' business administration courses to be offered

EAU CLAIRE — Five Essentials of Business Administration courses will be offered through Continuing Education and the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The courses are all online and can be taken for academic credit or non-credit continuing education units.

Registration for the following three courses will be accepted through Jan. 14:

  • "Introduction to the World of Business," Jan. 24-Feb. 18. This course provides an overview of the business environment, including functional areas within business and how they work together. The non-credit cost is $200 plus the cost of a textbook. The credit cost is the undergraduate tuition rate plus a $135 special course fee.
  • "Essentials of Accounting," Jan. 24-March 11. This course will offer instruction in how to interpret basic financial statements, including annual reports, balance sheets and income statements, and will teach basic accounting terminology. The non-credit cost is $400 plus the cost of a textbook. The credit cost is the undergraduate tuition rate plus a $270 special course fee.
  • "Essentials of Leadership," Jan. 24-March 11. Participants will analyze emotional intelligence, communication skills, team facilitation, motivation and strategy as tools to develop leadership skills. The non-credit cost is $400 plus the cost of a textbook. The credit cost is the undergraduate tuition rate plus a $270 special course fee.

Registration for the following two courses will be accepted through March 21:

  • "Essentials of Marketing," March 28-May 13. This course covers basic marketing principles, including the marketing concept, marketing mix, customer segmentation and target marketing. The non-credit cost is $400 plus the cost of a textbook. The credit cost is the undergraduate tuition rate plus a $270 special course fee.
  • "Essentials of Business Communication," March 28-May 13. This course will cover the mechanics and psychology of business communication, including audience analysis and determination of the most effective means to communicate, plan, revise and polish communication for business. The non-credit cost is $400 plus the cost of a textbook. The credit cost is the undergraduate tuition rate plus a $270 special course fee.
