Forensics team wins four events at Minnesota tournament

RELEASED: Feb. 18, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team won four events Feb. 15 at the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn. The team also placed second in team sweepstakes.

Several students qualified for the American Forensic Association National Tournament and the National Forensic Association National Tournament.

Individual results for Feb. 15 were:

Freshman Jarrel Montgomery, Madison, placed first in dramatic interpretation and poetry, qualifying for AFA in both events.

Junior Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn., placed first in prose and second in dramatic interpretation, qualifying for AFA in both events.

Junior Kindra Kressin, Eau Claire, placed fifth in dramatic interpretation, qualifying for NFA in that event.

Sophomore Megan Chilman, Le Sueur, Minn., placed fifth in poetry.

Freshman Stephen Fong, Shorewood, placed first in informative speaking.

Sophomore Abby Rand, Melrose, placed fourth in prose, qualifying for NFA in that event. She also placed second in informative speaking.

Sophomore Megan McKeown, Eagan, Minn., placed third in prose.

The team will compete Feb. 18 and 19 at the Wisconsin State Tournament at UW-Eau Claire.
