Haiku contest winner and honorable mentions to be recognized Feb. 9

RELEASED: Feb. 7, 2011

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will recognize the winners of the Literary smArts Seasonal Haiku Contest Feb. 9 at the McIntyre Library.

The presentation will take place on the second floor breezeway at 1 p.m. The winner of the contest was Dr. Bill Benson, professor emeritus of art. Honorable mentions include sophomore Jessica Olson, Bloomington, Minn., and Dr. Susan M. Harrison, associate professor of mathematics. Other honorable mentions included community members who will be announced at the presentation. An upcoming contest, "Literary smArts: Flash Fiction," will also be announced.

The University Writing Center, the University Bookstore and McIntyre Library sponsored the contest. This event is free and open to the public. For additional information visit the University Writing Center website.
