McIntyre Library extends hours and offers stress-relief activities

EAU CLAIRE — McIntyre Library at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will offer extended hours and free stress relief activities for students during finals.
McIntyre Library will be open 24 hours per day the week before and the week of finals. The library will be closed Dec. 24-25. The library will be open:

  • Monday, Dec. 12, 7 a.m. until Friday, Dec. 16, midnight.
  • Saturday, Dec. 17, 7:30 a.m.-midnight.
  • Sunday, Dec. 18, 7:30 a.m. until Thursday, Dec. 22, 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 23, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

McIntyre Library and Sodexo will provide free coffee to students from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Dec. 18-21 in the library.
McIntyre Library also will host a series of stress-relief events during finals week.


Monday, Dec. 19:

  • 5-6 p.m.: Leader dogs that students can pet will be on the first floor of the library. The event is sponsored by McIntyre Library.
  • 5-7 p.m.: Stress-relieving workstations will be on the library's first floor. Stations will include an area for making stress balls, as well as a regression center with coloring pages, fruit, aromatherapy lotions and information on stress management. The event is sponsored by Student Health Services.
  • 11:30–11:45 p.m.: A dance will be held in the second-floor breezeway, with music by DJ Element. After the party, free refreshments will be served to give students energy for studying. The event is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma and McIntyre Library.

Tuesday, Dec. 20:

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Certified therapy dogs will be on the first floor of the library for students to pet. The event is sponsored by McIntyre Library.
  • 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Stress-relieving workstations will be set up on the first floor of the library. Stations will include an area for making stress balls, as well as a regression center with coloring pages, fresh fruit, aromatherapy lotions and information on stress management. The event is sponsored by Student Health Services.
